Become a Porto Ambassador!

Be the liaison between Porto Charities and your school or parish

About Our Ambassador Program

Porto Ambassadors play an important role in helping Porto Charities build awareness and raise funds while serving as advocates to their local schools, parishes & businesses for the inclusion of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our communities. A Porto Ambassador serves as a part-time volunteer and liaison between Porto Charities and their local institution to provide a “direct link” with Porto Charities.

  • Understanding of Porto’s mission and impact on Diocesan schools, parishes, and local businesses and organizations.

Preferred Experience:

  • Past and/or current participation as a school peer mentor, in PCI events, webinars, office work, or other volunteer activities in support of our mission.

  • Liaison with school and/or parish leadership to determine opportunities to build awareness of Porto Charities;

  • Collaborate with parish and/or school staff to identify communication tools (websites, bulletins, newsletters, social media, etc.) to share Porto Charities’ information and messages. Help identify contacts, deadlines, and procedures for publication of content;

  • If possible, speak briefly at Masses, PTA, or PTO meetings and/or back-to-school nights and parish activities about Porto and the benefits of becoming an inclusive community and opportunities to support Porto Charities' initiatives and programs;

  • Help coordinate your school, parish, or organization’s involvement in Porto's special events with guidance from the Porto Charities staff;
