Porto Charities Business Challenge
Do you own a business and want to make a meaningful impact in our commmunity?
Inspired by the fundraising idea from Tony Stafford at Ford's Fish Shack, Porto Charities invites businesses in Northern Virginia to donate a small percentage of their sales to the Porto Charities Employment Program.
About the Business Fundraiser Challenge
Local businesses are encouraged to select one product and donate a portion of its sales to Porto Charities. Every 3, 6, or 12 months, the company will send a check to Porto Charities for the PortoWorks programs.
PortoWorks facilitates employment for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Diocese of Arlington. To date, Porto Charities has facilitated the employment of 25 individuals who are working and volunteering at schools, parishes, and businesses in our community.
The Business Fundraiser Challenge is a great way to exponentially increase the funds needed to support employment for individuals with disabilities with the help of local businesses like yours!

Tony Stafford, Porto Charities Vicepresident, is the founder and chef of Ford's Fish Shack, an award-winning seafood restaurant in Northern Virginia. He is also a philanthropist committed to helping youth in our community.
Tony launched an initiative to support Porto Charities by donating $ 0.50 to the Porto Charities Educator Scholarship Fund for each dessert he sells. Tony has donated more than $10,000 to Porto Charities since he started the program in the fall of 2023.
When people visit Ford's Fish Shack, they see a tabletop sign listing desserts and a QR code that directs them to the Porto Charities website to learn more about our mission. Those who belong to our Diocese or love someone with disabilities gladly order dessert knowing that a portion of their money supports a cause they care about.
Thanks to this initiative, we can raise additional funds and build awareness of our organization. Tony has 20,000 people each year who order desserts at his restaurants and see the Porto Charities name and logo on their tables.
Now, Tony wants to challenge other business owners to join him in supporting youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Diocese of Arlington.
